The architectural design of this structure resulted in the separation of the facility into elements; a garage, a service center building and a service island. The garage was designed in an X-shape to maximize efficiency by locating the central parts issue room at the intersection of the legs of the X to eliminate excessive distances to supplies. Radiating from the central stock issue room are the four wings of the building; two opposite one another, house a 24 bay general repair shop. One wing is for lubrication, tire parts and service, and the stock room located adjacent to the central parts issue room. The last wing houses the servicing of fire safety trucks and equipment and administrative support.
