This 2-story, 80,240 s.f. addition and renovation project entailed the modification of individual classrooms that eliminated the open classroom concept for Pre-K to 5th grades. Built in 1970, the$10.5m renovation of William M. Boyd allows school ‘lockdown’ for each classroom. The main entrance was modified with steps and a ramp to comply with ADA, and an elevator was added near the courtyard and amphitheater area.HVAC, site improvements, lighting and sprinkler addition were also a part of the Owner’s program. Due to the lack of visibility, the main entry and entire front façade of the school which included the relocation of the administration wing and renovation of the media center was modified with vast amounts of glass for visibility which addressed security concerns.
